Growing Bolder

You just can’t keep our Rowdy guy out of the water … ANY water!
Benefiting the YMCA Aquatic Center Scholarship Fund, Rowdy participated in the Lake Swim at Lake Cane on Saturday May 2. How could he not? He’s been on the group’s Ten Most Wanted list for some time, and he became one of the most prominent swimmers ever to tackle Lake Cane!
YMCA Aquatic Center Board Members Dr. Lucky Meisenheimer hosts the Lake Swim from his home Aquatica and he totally enjoyed Rowdy’s participation, as did the hundreds of people there. Rowdy even got his name on the Wall of Fame, which features every swimmer who has made the round trip swim across the lake and back. And most importantly, landing one of the Ten Most Wanted got the YMCA a $1,000 scholarship donation from the good doctor, in honor of Rowdy’s participation!
With Rowdy’s attendance made known through YMCA press releases, the Lake Swim that day CRUSHED the previous record for swimmers in a day … a total of 203 SWIMMERS braved the lake waters, obliterating the record of 136 set last month. And the swimmers ranged from Special Olympics athletes to triathlon teams, with ages ranging from teenagers to Masters swimmers into the 60s and 70s age groups. Besides the swimmers, there were several camera crews, tons of spectators and plenty of people lined up to get their photo taken with Rowdy.
A great event, a great cause, and great fun for Rowdy and all of his fellow swimmers.
